Root Canal Treatment

Perhaps the most misunderstood dental procedure, Root Canal Treatment can be completed quickly and with minimal to no discomfort.

When the pulp in a tooth is irreparably damaged (i.e the nerve dies) the tooth can usually be saved with root canal therapy. This can be caused by severe decay, gum disease or extensive damage from an accident.

This procedure involves removing dead tissue from inside the roots of the teeth, debriding the canals then placing a filling material inside.

Most teeth that have undergone root canal treatment are then restored using a crown. Depending on the location of the tooth this may be a porcelain crown for front teeth or a gold or alloy based crown for back teeth that require additional strength.
